Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-07-04

These terms govern your use of the Quietoak iOS app. By using Quietoak, you agree to them. Please read the safety and medical-disclaimer sections carefully — they matter.

What Quietoak is — and is not

Quietoak is a self-help and wellness app that helps you practice skills based on the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) model. It is not therapy, not medical or mental-health treatment, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for professional care. It does not establish a therapist–patient or any other professional relationship. Always seek the advice of a qualified professional with any questions about a medical or mental-health condition.

Your companion is an AI

Your companion is an artificial-intelligence guide, not a person and not a licensed professional. It is disclosed as AI in the app. It can be wrong, and it may produce responses that are inaccurate or not right for your situation. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or emergency decisions, and please don't treat it as a replacement for real human support or professional care.

Crisis & emergencies

Quietoak is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, call your local emergency number now. In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741. The in-app Crisis Survival Kit provides these resources for convenience — it is always free and works offline — but it does not contact emergency services for you and is not a monitored helpline.

Eligibility

Quietoak is intended for adults 18 and older. By using it you confirm that you are at least 18.

Acceptable use

Please use Quietoak only for your own personal, lawful self-help. Don't attempt to misuse, attack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the app or its backend, and don't use it to harm yourself or others. We may limit or end access that abuses the service.

No medical warranty

Quietoak is provided "as is," for general wellness and educational purposes. We make no claim that it treats, cures, prevents, or diagnoses any condition, and no promise of any particular outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date and may be noted in the App Store update notes. Continuing to use Quietoak after a change means you accept it.
