Wingmate ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Wingmate mobile application.
Information We Collect
Chat messages. When you chat with a coach, your message is sent to our server, which relays it to our AI provider (see Third-Party Processing) to generate a reply. We do not store your messages or conversations on our servers — each request is processed only to produce the response. Your conversation history is kept on your device.
Screenshots. If you share conversation screenshots with your coach, they are sent to our server and relayed to our AI provider (see Third-Party Processing) to generate a response. They are not stored on our servers.
Other people in your screenshots. A conversation screenshot may include messages, names, or photos of the person you're talking to. When you choose to share one, that content is processed by our AI provider solely to generate your coaching response and is not stored on our servers or used to train models. Please only share screenshots you're comfortable processing this way, and avoid sharing content about anyone who would object.
Device identifier. We generate and store a random, anonymous device identifier to track your free-tier usage and subscription status. This identifier is not linked to your personal identity.
Connection data. Information you enter about people you're talking to (such as names, notes, and platforms) is stored locally on your device. When you ask a coach for advice about a specific person, the details you've entered about them are included in that request to our AI provider so the advice is relevant. We do not store this connection data on our servers.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your real name, email address, or phone number
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or files beyond screenshots you explicitly share
- We do not use tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics
- We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers
How We Use Your Information
- To provide AI coaching responses to your messages
- To analyze screenshots you share for coaching purposes
- To manage your subscription and free-tier usage limits
- To maintain conversation continuity within coaching sessions
Third-Party Processing
To generate coaching responses, we send the content of your requests — your messages, any screenshots you share, and the details you've entered about the person you're discussing — to trusted AI providers acting as our processors:
- Anthropic (Claude) generates the coaches' written responses and analyzes shared screenshots.
- OpenAI generates spoken audio when you use the read-aloud (text-to-speech) feature.
These providers process your content only to return a response and do not use it to train their models under our configuration. We do not share your data with any other third parties for their own purposes.
Data Storage and Security
Your connection profiles, saved openers, and app preferences are stored locally on your device using encrypted file protection. Chat messages sent to our servers are processed over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Data Retention
Your conversation transcripts, connections, and saved openers are stored only on your device, and you can delete all conversations at any time from Settings. We do not retain your messages or conversations on our servers; each request is processed only to generate a reply and is not saved.
Children's Privacy
Wingmate is not intended for users under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
